I’ve been spending more time in iTunes than on Firefox this morning, waiting for the update to be available. I just checked for updates for my iPod touch and low-and-behold the update is coming online soon as I type!

I’m guessing the goal was to have it online at 9am EST, but it usually takes a few minutes for these things to go live. Here’s to hoping the server doesn’t get bombed with download requests! Cheers!

I am in high anticipation for the release of Apple’s 2.0 firmware update for the iPod Touch! The AppStore is online on iTunes, and there are so many cool applications that I want to use and play with. TUAW.com is featuring the various cool apps on the store and giving little previews. So far the most interesting free applications have been the Remote, AIM, and Super Monkey Ball! What a perfect game for the iPod touch or iPhone! Great use of the accelerometer. It has already got great reviews on the AppStore as well.

So while everyone waits in line overnight outside of the Rogers stores waiting for the iPhone 3G, I’ll be anticipating the download of the update. I just can’t imagine spending so much money for a cell phone plan per month. A bit too rich for my blood despite how alluring the device.

Great news! I just got a free iPod Touch 8GB since a family member bought a brand new MacBook. This thing is beautiful! It wasn’t easy to get my hands on it since FedEx decided to be off their game. After sitting through a rainstorm, I finally got my package and then went home with my brand new iPod.

Not only is it my first iPod, it’s the break of my longtime motto that I’d never become part of the iPod crowd. But I can’t help it when they bring out a touchscreen iPod that basically doubles as a PDA! It’s thin, sleek, black, and shiny. I got my name engraved on the back, and I couldn’t figure out what to get engraved on the second line until I was waiting in the car for the heavy downpour to cease. The line every iPod Touch should get engraved on the second line: “Don’t touch me.”

I’ll take some photos of it tomorrow with my dSLR and we’ll see how those turn out.

In an amazing route of the Lakers, the Boston Celtics obliterated the opposition with a 39 point victory margin, the largest ever for a championship clinching win. After the monstrous second quarter by the Celts, the Lakers could see the hopes of a championship comeback drift away into the sounds of cheering Celtics fans.

From screams of “M-V-P” for Paul Pierce, to the seven three-point field goals by Ray Allen and the innumerable amount of steals, this game was picture perfect. Even after the game was over, the crowd was screaming “Defence!” because of Doc Rivers’ belief that defence wins championships. The performance by the Celtics left announcers speechless and puzzled as to where to start analyzing how the Lakers could come back in the game. Last night the Celtics showed why they are the best, and hopefully they can keep up the great work and defend their championship next year.

As for the Lakers, Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson were denied a ring to add to their collection. I don’t think they are going to feel ashamed of their efforts in this series. They were just simply outplayed.

Final exams are over, Summer weather is in full swing, and sports are just about the only thing to watch on television. The tube has been quite bland lately in terms of sitcoms, reality shows, and even news! The only exciting things to watch have been the NBA playoffs, NHL playoffs, and the occasional F1 races and sessions.

Go Boston Celtics! Even though my country’s team is in the NBA playoffs, I still want to see the Celtics take the championship. The ideal NBA finals would be Lakers vs. Celtics, and that means I want to see the Spurs knocked out very soon. I just can’t stand their team ever since David Robinson retired. Duncan is cool, but the rest of the team are just guys thinking they’re clever.

I’m not a huge fan of hockey by any means, but it makes for good television with the fast pace, violence, and high-scoring games as per the rule changes. Overtime is always exciting too. Out of all the teams, I want to see Colorado win it one more time with all those veterans (Sakic, Forsberg, Foote, Smith).

The F1 season is still young and Ferrari is starting to show their dominance with Kimi Raikkonen showing why he was champion last year. He’s driving quite brilliantly and his teammate, Massa, isn’t too far behind. McLaren on the other hand is clearly lagging behind technologically, because their cars seem to be not as quick despite the abilities of their drivers. BMW Sauber on the other hand are making a strong showing, and challenging Ferrari in the standings, but not always on the time sheets. Tomorrow is race day in Spain with Raikkonen at pole position and McLaren drivers down a few spots of the starting grid. Let’s just hope Hamilton can pull some magic out of his helmet!

P.S. You guys should check out YouTube and search for the “Friday Night Project”. It’s absolutely hilarious! Watch out for Alan’s topical barometer!
