This American election is really stirring up some buzz. I was watching KTLA this evening to find non-stop political adverts saying you should vote yes or no on proposition 93. It’s amazing how much buzz on new media that the election has created, and it has become THE way to reach out to the young voters.

I believe it was Barack Obama that started the online strategy first on Facebook and it clearly has turned some heads. I’m sure CNN has tonnes of viewers all across the nation, as these candidates vie for everyone’s votes.

It will definitely be interesting to see either an African-American or female president of the United States. Either way, there will be many changes for Americans to accept and not everyone will be happy. I think Canada could do with a change in leader as well, but all I can do is vote and see what happens.

Remember to vote, because a dictatorship is the lack of democracy.

Front pages have been made, podcasts are abundant, and investors are uninformed.

The keynote of the year has settled into the industry and everyone is clambering around to take advantage of opportunity. One company is already making “manila envelope” laptop sleeves for the new MacBook Air, just like the envelope Steve Jobs pulled the world’s thinnest laptop out of.

Just about every tech blog or general news blog have reported on the announcements to bits, and my news reader is quickly filling up! Podcasts haven’t been as abundant as the blog entries or articles, but I’m sure they’re in the production process.

One interesting thing I’ve read is the reaction of the investors to the keynote, and how tons of shares were sold due to investors thinking that the announcements were a “disappointment.” It was obvious going into Macworld that very little could top last year’s iPhone announcement, but with the great sales numbers, new applications, and now the MacBook Air the outlook in reality is great for Apple this year. In fact, properly informed investors are saying it’s the perfect time to buy Apple stock since the price has come down, and should be going back up throughout the year. It’d be interesting to see how things play out this year for Apple financially.

This morning I woke up at a most fortunate hour. I was just in time to catch the latter half of the qualifying session for the Formula One race in Monaco this weekend, and I was pleasantly rewarded.

Rewarded how? Well Massa didn’t manage to catch pole position and McLaren went one-two with Alonso catching the pole for the second year in a row. I guess this track is Fernando Alonso’s track and I should expect him to win the race if he has a good start and if Lewis Hamilton doesn’t manage to figure the track out. Hamilton held pole until the last lap where Alonso caught up in the second sector. (A nod of the head to Massa for being the swiftest in the third sector)

Tomorrow they’re showing the Monaco race twice. Once, live and another time later in the day. I doubt I’ll wake up in time to catch the start of the live session, but I’ll definitely watch the latter half live.

First thing this morning I checked the UFC 66 results and low and behold, Liddell knocked out Ortiz in the third round. I was more surprised that it went all the way to three rounds. That’s just an example of how well conditioned Ortiz was and how much farther he has come since he last fought Liddell and lost. Soon after I checked around to see if anyone has posted the fight online as yet and I was not disappointed. Someone had posted the whole fight on Google Video, which surprised me since I expected it first on YouTube. I was surprised at how the knockout occurred since Ortiz still looked like he was defending himself and not taking too much damage but the referee stopped the fight regardless. So Liddell defended his title once again and I don’t see anyone taking his belt anytime soon since his biggest enemy now is his age. I would be more than happy to see Ortiz give it another shot since he can only get better. I have to give props to Ortiz since he trained so hard for the past year and spent about ten months at seven thousand feet above sea level training six days a week. Well either way, it was a good fight and both fighters deserved what they received.
I wonder how many people made the same New Year’s resolution like last year of shedding the pounds. Health has become a prominent topic in the news and is a popular topic among everyone regardless of age. Maybe all those news reports and research dollars have started to take a more visible effect. I say “FINALLY!” We’ve all seen those unhealthy kids on the news or in person and we all know it will get even more serious as those kids get older. At least now we have the information readily available to set an example so that we can be around longer for our children and so our children can enjoy their own children for as long as possible. Exercise, eat healthy, and keep drinking that clear stuff we call water. It’s good for you.
