Finally, I got the update installed and all these new Apps are downright fabulous! Now my main menu is full of applications, and I’ve tried out most of them.
For some reason I can’t get the Remote to work with my blackBook’s iTunes. It pairs up fine, but I can’t seem to get the remote to connect to the library afterwards. I was looking at the AppStore and a few that are not free that interest me include the Sudoku game, the Super Monkey Ball, Pool, and maybe even Scrabble. I know they’re all games but the iPod Touch is basically a time killer when you’re stuck somewhere waiting on a bus or a train.

After boiling some rice, I came back to my iPod page in iTunes and clicked on Upgrade, and now it’s saying that 1.1.4 is the latest version! Where did the 2.0 go?! I’ll keep an eye on it as long as I can, but I hope this update doesn’t get pushed back until tomorrow! That would be evil for Apple to tempt the iPod Touch owners with all the Apps in the AppStore, and then not allow us to play for a long time. Come on Apple, don’t get rotten on us!
Edit: I just read on TUAW that the Apple servers are having trouble handling all the requests for the updates and activations of the new iPhone 3G’s. But yes, the update is live. I just got to keep on clicking on the Update button and hope Apple can find some bandwidth to share with me!

I’ve been spending more time in iTunes than on Firefox this morning, waiting for the update to be available. I just checked for updates for my iPod touch and low-and-behold the update is coming online soon as I type!
I’m guessing the goal was to have it online at 9am EST, but it usually takes a few minutes for these things to go live. Here’s to hoping the server doesn’t get bombed with download requests! Cheers!

I am in high anticipation for the release of Apple’s 2.0 firmware update for the iPod Touch! The AppStore is online on iTunes, and there are so many cool applications that I want to use and play with. TUAW.com is featuring the various cool apps on the store and giving little previews. So far the most interesting free applications have been the Remote, AIM, and Super Monkey Ball! What a perfect game for the iPod touch or iPhone! Great use of the accelerometer. It has already got great reviews on the AppStore as well.
So while everyone waits in line overnight outside of the Rogers stores waiting for the iPhone 3G, I’ll be anticipating the download of the update. I just can’t imagine spending so much money for a cell phone plan per month. A bit too rich for my blood despite how alluring the device.

Great news! I just got a free iPod Touch 8GB since a family member bought a brand new MacBook. This thing is beautiful! It wasn’t easy to get my hands on it since FedEx decided to be off their game. After sitting through a rainstorm, I finally got my package and then went home with my brand new iPod.
Not only is it my first iPod, it’s the break of my longtime motto that I’d never become part of the iPod crowd. But I can’t help it when they bring out a touchscreen iPod that basically doubles as a PDA! It’s thin, sleek, black, and shiny. I got my name engraved on the back, and I couldn’t figure out what to get engraved on the second line until I was waiting in the car for the heavy downpour to cease. The line every iPod Touch should get engraved on the second line: “Don’t touch me.”
I’ll take some photos of it tomorrow with my dSLR and we’ll see how those turn out.
